Bruker MaXis II QTOF-MS coupled with ETD (Electron Transfer Dissociation) fragmentation offers distinct advantage of high resolution capabilities along with enhanced fragmentation techniques. It offers high resolution of 80000 and a mass error of 5 ppm, 5 orders of magnitude and dynamic range achieved at UHPLC speeds due to 50 GBit/s sampling technology. ETD involves the electron transfer from flouranthene ions to the protein of interest. The transferred electron randomly dissects the N-Cα amide bond, in-between the amino acid residue producing ladder series and giving the protein sequence information.
